Calling Artists for Art Putt 2015!

First Night Raleigh Art Putt

WHAT: Art Putt will be an interactive art installation featuring a miniature golf course of nine artist-designed mini-golf holes.

WHEN: December 28-December 31, 2015

WHERE: Inside Historic Market Hall in City Market in Downtown Raleigh.

Any Artist or Group of Artists is invited to submit a proposal for one of the nine holes.  Think of this as a public art exhibit where folks can interact with your artwork while playing a fun game at the same time!  Each selected artist will be featured on the First Night Raleigh website and mobile app in addition to their hole being on display at Art Putt.

The Theme of First Night Raleigh this year is North Carolina FIRSTS.  We are celebrating all of the unique and quirky ways that North Carolina is #1!  Each hole must be designed with this theme in mind.

First Night Raleigh has commissioned set designer Greg Osbeck to construct the actual structure of the individual holes and to make the course cohesive. Artists may select from these base layouts, which are listed at the end of this document, when submitting their designs.

Call to Artists for Artsplosure: The Raleigh Arts Festival 2016!

Each fall, Artsplosure calls artists like you who are interested in exhibiting and selling at our namesake festival that is held each year in the third week of May. This year, for the second time in the festival’s 37-year history, Artsplosure: The Raleigh Arts Festival will be three days: May 20-22, 2016. All work displayed or offered for sale must be of your own artistic creation.

A three-member jury will review and score all submissions and artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance in late February.

At the festival, a three-judge panel awards sixe cash prizes, totaling $3,500!

The early deadline for entries is Friday, December 11, 2015. The final deadline for entries is Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

See You Next Summer at 2016’s CITY mARTket Fair!

Artsplosure’s artist market in downtown Raleigh’s historic City Market has come to a close. Our “2nd Sunday CITY mARTket Fair” had a nice summer run, and concluded this past Sunday with it’s final event for the year.

We would like to thank all of the artist that participated in these events. You helped create the warm and inviting creative environment we were looking for with your paintings, photography, jewelry, ceramics, and other original artwork. We also appreciate all of the patrons that came out to explore the cobblestone streets surrounding City Market. Seeing you enjoy the festivities as much as we did brought smiles to our faces.

We look forward to seeing everyone next year for our summer series art and craft market. In the meanwhile, look out for First Night Raleigh to bring in the new year, and Artsplosure — The Raleigh Arts Festival. Two festivals that have been a staple in the downtown Raleigh area for years.

Raleigh Hall of Fame

Artsplosure is humbled to be in such esteemed company as inductees into The Raleigh Hall of Fame this year. We were chosen among many other notable individuals and organizations for the Hall of Fame’s October 2015 induction. The recognition is particularly meaningful this year as Artsplosure plans it’s 25th First Night Raleigh celebration, marking over two decades of bringing the work of imaginative and celebrated artists and performers to downtown Raleigh on New Year’s Eve.

“It’s such an honor for Artsplosure to be recognized in such a significant way by the Raleigh Hall of Fame. I feel that Artsplosure really was a trendsetter for all of the great current special events that take place in downtown Raleigh and we are so proud to be a part of this history. We know the power of putting the arts out to the people in the way that we do and it’s so gratifying to have played a small role in what will no doubt be the future of our city!” said Programming Director, Terri Dollar of Artsplosure’s role in the Raleigh community.

Artsplosure joins the Raleigh Hall of Fame alongside 10 individuals and 1 other organization. William Prentiss Baker, III, Dr. Robert E Bridges, Micou Farrah Browne, Alice K. Burrows, Dr. John Gilbert, Charles C. Meeker, Robert Rankin, Bishop Henry Beard Delany, Henry Marin Tupper, and the Raleigh Rescue Mission will be honored along with Artsplosure for their work and contributions to North Carolina’s capital city.

“We are truly humbled to be joining the Raleigh Hall of Fame.  It’s a meaningful reward for nearly four decades of work.  More important, it has energized the board and staff to be even more adventurous and creative as we map out our strategic director over the next five years.” said Executive Director, Michael Lowder of the induction honor.
