Artsplosure, in partnership with Live It Up! Hillsborough Street, today announced a dynamic lineup of performances for the upcoming Live & Local: Spring Fest on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
The previously announced free street festival will run 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the 2200 block of Hillsborough Street and in North Hall’s adjacent parking area.
In keeping with the Live & Local theme, the main stage band lineup is comprised entirely of acts from the surrounding area and includes John Brown & The Groove Shop Band, Mel Melton & The Wicked Mojos, Huzzah!, The Little German Band, Acappology, and the Raleigh Rockers.
“Artsplosure strives to make our city’s amazing variety of artistic expression available to all, and this festival and its location along beautiful and historic Hillsborough Street gives us an ideal template to accomplish this goal,” said Artsplosure executive director Michael Lowder. “Plus, there is a rich variety of local businesses along Hillsborough Street that our festival audience should check out!”
“Hillsborough Street is the perfect venue to showcase these amazing groups on a dance floor that will make it impossible for folks to sit still or just watch. We hope they get up and dance have a blast at Live and Local Springfest.” said Artsplosure programming director Terri Dollar of the lineup.
In addition to the array of performances on the main stage, festival attendees can also enjoy a variety of youth acts on the Kid Zone Stage in the North Hall lot. There is something for every age with story time hosted by Read With Me and the North Carolina Association of Black Storytellers, and performances by Jeghetto Puppets, Lucy Daley, the Community Music School, Wiley Elementary school band, and Progressive Music Center. Imagine Circus will also provide interactive play time as they host a Hoop Jam.
