Artsplosure partners with Live It Up! Hillsborough Street for Live & Local: Spring Fest 2017

Artsplosure has partnered with Live It Up! Hillsborough Street to present Live & Local: Spring Fest, a free, family-friendly community festival on Hillsborough Street in 2017.

The festival, which is part of Live It Up! Hillsborough’s ongoing Live & Local series, will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 12:00pm - 8:30pm The event will offer activities and performances for all ages, which includes a variety of music across multiple stages, an art market, food and novelty vendors, and interactive activities.

“Our events outgrew their original footprints so this year we will transform Hillsborough Street into a huge block party during both festivals,” said David Dean, Director of Programs at Live it Up! Hillsborough Street.

As festival partners, Artsplosure will create an art market comprised of over 30 local visual artists and craftsmen for festival-goers to peruse. As an organization whose own festivals depend on a multitude of volunteers, Artsplosure will also coordinate volunteers to facilitate the event. In addition, they have assisted with various elements of programming, from local music selection to planning children’s activities.

“Artsplosure is always looking for opportunities to bring high quality art and enrichment programs to our community. Partnering with a dynamic organization like Live it Up! Hillsborough Street is a good way to achieve our mission!” said Michael Lowder, Executive Director of Artsplosure.

The Spring Fest main stage will be located at 2200 Hillsborough Street, near the Enterprise Street intersection, and Compiegne Park will host the Youth Stage. Festival headliners Chatham County Line will close out a full day of local performers and musicians, including The Amateurs, The Beast, Saludos Compay, The Affectionates, and Tea Cup Gin.

Raleigh Brewing Company will be the exclusive sponsor of the Spring Fest Beer Zone, adding a hyperlocal focus of the festival. Hillsborough Street merchants will be on hand to showcase the myriad of offerings in the district.

Later in the year, the Live & Local series will continue with Live & Local: Roots Fest, which will focus on music genres that are closely aligned with North Carolina’s history. Programming will range from the blues to country to soul and everything in between. Additionally, the festival will feature local and regional craftspersons and organizations."
