Thank you, Ron
Artsplosure has lost another steadfast volunteer leader.
Ronald V. Fodor, who served on the Artsplosure Board of Directors in the late 1990s/early 2000s, including a term as treasurer, passed away on October 22, 2021. After he retired from the Board, he continued to play an important role with our festivals. At almost every First Night Raleigh, Ron and his life partner Peggy McIntyre were loyal venue managers. Peggy and Ron could often be found on the third weekend in May selling tee shirts or slinging beer at Artsplosure - The Raleigh Arts Festival. At Artsplosure, Ron loved to wear his Rites of Spring tee shirt, which featured Louis St. Lewis’s controversial image for the 1997 festival.
For 41 years, Ron was a Professor of Geology at NC State University, where he performed groundbreaking research, served in numerous faculty leadership positions, and was a beloved mentor and role model for hundreds of graduate students. Ron was a modest and affable Renaissance man. Along with his scientific research, he published books on many of his eclectic interests. His artistic pursuits included swing dancing and pottery. He will be deeply missed by his Artsplosure family and all those whose lives he touched.
His obituary can be found here.
